Transcript of Ariana Grande-Butera
A New Beginning
American singer, songwriter, actor, and dancer!
Ariana was born on June 26, 1993 in Boca Raton, Florida. She is Italian, half Sicilian and half Abruzzese. Her parents are Joan Grande and Edward Butera; she has an older brother, Frankie. She started her musical career at the age of eight and performed at Little Palm Theatre for Young People and Fort Lauderdale's Children Theatre. She attended North Broward Preparatory School for high school.
Ariana never took voice lessons before Broadway musical, 13. After the Broadway musical and when Victorious began, she met Eric Vetro. Ariana spills to Girl2Watch, "...I met Eric Vetro, who is my best friend and a part of my family now. And he's the most incredible voice teacher in the entire world. He warms up your voice and takes care of it. He's like a nurturing mother, but for your vocal chords. I love him."
Ariana has a few influences, yet she is inspired by millions! To start, she is a big fan of Mariah Carey. Ariana states, "I love Mariah Carey. She is literally my favorite human being on the planet. And of course Whitney [Houston] as well. As far as vocal influences go, Whitney and Mariah pretty much cover it." She idols Fergie, also. "I love Fergie. She's just so fun and passionate. I love that she raps as well. Like she has a fantastic voice and she can belt G's and A's and she doesn't have to all the time. She just has swag and I think that's really cool." She definitely admires her older brother and looks up to him. They are with each other all the time and they support each other so much! She tells Instagram, "When I was a little girl I used to go to his high school productions and do the same exact thing... When he made his broadway debut I was front row center beaming with pride. I always wanted to be just like my big brother. I'll always be his biggest fan and he'll always be mine."
Ariana made a national television entrance singing "Star Spangled Banner" at the first ever broadcast of the national anthem for Florida Panthers. In 2008, she started acting as Charlotte on Broadway musical 13. In 2010, Ariana created role of Miriam in the reading for musical Cuba Libre. In 2010-2013, she starred as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's Victorious. In 2013, she starred in Nickelodeon movie, Swindle, as Amanda Benson. She is now playing the lead role of Cat on Nickelodeon's Sam&Cat. Ariana voices "Princess Diaspro" on animated series, Winx Club. She also voiced title character of 2013 animated film, Snowflake. Check out her new album Yours Truly!
Due to vocal cord hemorrhage, Ariana was forced to cancel some of her upcoming shows at that time. Vocal cord hemorrhage is when some of the tiny blood vessels within the soft tissue of the vocal cord break, causing essentially a bruise. It's important to rest the voice in order to prevent long-term damage. Ariana tells her fans on twitter, "For those of you asking about my voice I screamed too much at my party totally irresponsible but it's better now, thanks for the well wishes." Luckily, she is better and she is back to singing!
In 2008, she won a "National Youth Theatre Association Award". This year, she got 4 nominations for Teen Choice Awards! The categories were: Choice Music Breakout Artist, Choice Love Song, Choice Summer Music Star:Female, and Candie's Choice Style Icon.
