Psalm 97 Sermon
Transcript of Psalm 97 Sermon
let the many coastlands be glad!
Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
Fire goes before him
and burns up his adversaries all around.
His lightnings light up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
The mountains melt like wax before the LORD,
before the Lord of all the earth.
The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all the peoples see his glory." (Ps. 97:1- 6 ESV) The mountains melt like wax... He Judges Idolaters and false gods! So.. Hate Evil! The LORD reigns!
Let the Earth rejoice!
Let the many coastlands rejoice!
Cloud and darkness surround Him,
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne
Fire goes before Him,
and blazes around His enemies
His lightning makes the world light up.
The Earth sees and it trembles,
The mountains melt like wax before the LORD
before the LORD of all the Earth
The heavens declare His righteousness
and all the peoples see His glory.
Let all those who worship idols be ashamed,
Those who glory in worthless idols,
Bow to Him, all you gods!
Zion hears and rejoices,
and the daughters of Judah rejoice
because of Your judgments, O LORD
For you, Lord are Most High above all the Earth,
utterly exalted above all gods.
Those who love the LORD, Hate evil!
He is guarding the lives of His faithful ones,
He snatches them from the hand of the wicked.
Light is sown for the righteous,
and joy for the upright in heart.
Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous ones,
and praise for the remembrance of His holiness. Rejoice because of the comings of God in Scripture:
Sinai | Tabernacle | Temple | Ezekiel's vision | Jesus' Transfiguration | Jesus' ascension
Behold, he [Jesus] is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen." (Rev. 1:7 ESV) Jesus reigns, and no one else! Idolatry? Challenge: today evil is celebrated.
