Since we have sent a research team to Kepler-186f, they tested the air to see if it was breathable for humans and found out that it was slightly similar to the air on Earth. It did have an atmosphere, but it also had a combination of unbreathable gases. We were able to invent a filter that purified the gases into oxygen. The filters were modeled after earthen palm trees, and using a similar process of transpiration, filtered the gases and releases air through vents at the trunk. We designed it so it can survive anywhere on land and to create a breathable atmosphere in a few decades' time.
Waste Removal
Waste removal was one of the harder issues to consider. It took much thought and deliberation, but we were able to get it. The staff decided to use human waste as a form of renewable energy, by extracting components to power different things in people's homes. Anything left over would be frozen and crushed. Vegetable waste would be used as fertilizer, and garbage would be frozen and crushed.

The domes weren't the most ideal of homes for it was very constricting and felt like a cage, but many people accepted it because the atmosphere wasn't suitable for human life. The domes stood a few thousand feet tall and were clear, the material used was a stronger form of fiberglass. It was air-tight and allowed as much sunlight to pass through as possible.

Kepler space observatory found a planet in the Cygnus constellation orbiting a red dwarf star called Kepler-186.
After three decades of studying the data, SETI scientist Jason Rowe, was able to validate that the planets orbiting Kepler-186 were potentially habitable.
The Kepler Space Telescope searches for planets by searching for distortions in the brightness of stars. When a planet moves in between the Earth and the star, the brightness of the star becomes momentarily dimmer. This is used to find out how big the planets are, how fast they're orbiting the star, and how close they are to their star.
Kepler-186f was officially named a planet in 2014.
Food was one of the biggest issues on Kepler-186f, and animals weren't capable of living there yet. The original Kepler mission staff decided to send rovers to build multiple greenhouses for plants. They sent seeds after that to grow and eventually adapt to the environment of Kepler-186f.

The method of retrieving water was adapted from how oil and gas companies in Alberta got oil. All of the processes occur underground. Underneath the domes, there are two artificial aquifers, one for storing water and another for purifying it before it is distributed equally among all the houses. There is a pipe leading to one of the bodies of water and it allows only a certain amount of liquid to pass through. We make sure to moderate the amount of water for everyone, so that everyone gets the same amount of water.
Risks and Dangers of Space Exploration
There are many risks and dangers associated with space exploration that are, but not limited to: wasting billions of dollars on a slim hope of finding a new planet, getting lost in space because of a slight miscalculation, running out of air in the shuttle, getting caught in the gravity of a planet, losing power, which, in turn loses heat and running out of fuel. Although the risks are great, people are willing to bet their lives for science.

Although the cost of this mission is very expensive, the benefits that come with it are unimaginable. We all knew that the Earth was dying, but still we ignored the effects we caused with our garbage and machines. Living on Kepler-186f will allow us to have a new place to call home. A chance to start new. The mission staff anticipated that politics would get in the way of true peace, so they decided to get trusted people to delegate each dome like the cities back on Earth. For the environment, we could do no more. Replenishing the air and creating food is the only thing we could do. Our past mistake was trying to play "God", controlling all the land as if it was ours. The only thing we could do is allow nature to take its course. Finally, there is no ownership. There is no "mine" or "yours" only "ours". We all share for it is a community. It is a lesson we have learned time and time again, but have not practiced. It is all our mistake in not realizing that sooner.
