industry agriculture education then then then now now now 1.Teachers are assigned to teach only one grade level. 2.Students are disciplined in many was,however,hitting a student is no. 3.Today all kids are required to go to school. 1.Prior to the 1800s, most people who called Ohio home earned their living through farming. 2. Most Ohio farmers who produced a surplus, sold their produced locally or sent them down the Ohio Mississippi River to New Orleans. 3.Farmers had the most success during times of war,providing its allies with food. 1.As early as the 1800s,Ohio residents advocated for the building of railroads to speed up travel time and to make it easier to ship products. 2. The first railroad purpose was to connect communities that did not have access to canals. 3.the first railroad in Ohio was the Erie&Kalamazoo railroad. 1.Agriculture remains Ohios#1 industry today. 2.Ohio is sill one of the nations leaders in agriculture. 3.There are nearly 75,000 farms in Ohio. 3. By the 1900's the United States had over 250,000 miles of train track. 1. Before the economy took a downturn in 2008, the railroad industry was expecting to double its traffic. 2. The popularity of railroads has started to come back because people are realizing that it is more efficient and less pollution than using trucks. 3. The railroad industry is becoming more efficient because the are using new technology to improve. 1. In the 1800s a school house consisted of one room for all students of all ages. 2. There were schools for white students and colored students. 3. In 1829 the first school for the blind was started in America.
