Germany industrialized it's economy leaving the farmers to leave the country.
Where did they originally settle?
Most of the German immigrants from before first settled in Halifax and Nova Scotia. Later on they moved to the Saint Lawrence river in the 1700s and the 1800s.
When did they first start coming here?
Germans first started to come to Canada in 1784, but the first encounter with a Canadian and German was way before that.
How did they get here?
The earliest of the German immigrants had came to Canada mostly by boat.
Germany is a country that has been with us for a long time. Without German Immigrants, our life would be very different.
Struggles that Germany faced
Because of WW1, Germans had to pretend they were Dutch, Scandinavian, or Russian
The German schools were closed and the German-language papers were put to an end
Between 1939 and 1945, 837 German farmers and workers were arrested
