Transcript of BLOCKWORK SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION
Blockwork is construction with concrete or cement blocks that are larger than a standard clay or concrete brick. To make them lighter and easier to work with they have a hollow core that also improves their insulation capacity. They are available in a variety of densities to suit different applications. Their convenience and cost effectiveness have made them a popular alternative to clay bricks although they require an additional finish for reasons of aesthetics and water resistance. They are often used to build internal partition walls and retaining walls.
advantage & disadvantage of blockwork
The main disadvantage are :
10 product of blockwork system

i) Hollow block
ii) Dense concrete block
iii) Foundation block
iv) Lightweight aircrete block
v) Glass block
vi) Ziegel block
vii) Unfired clay block
viii) Icf block
ix) Hemp block
x) Masonry block

1. Lower strength
2. Low resistance to rain penetration
3. Loadbearing properties less (one or two storey application)
4. Lower sound insulation properties
The main advantage are :
1. Labour saving
2. Easier fixing
3. Lower density
4. Higher thermal insulation properties
5. Provides a suitable key for a plaster and cement rendering
CONTENTS

2. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF BLOCKWORK SYSTEM
3. 10 PRODUCTS OF BLOCKWORK SYSTEM
4. INSTALLATION AND CONSTRUCTION METHOD
5. CONCLUSION
Hollow block
1.
Used for load bearing and hard-wearing industrial and agricultural buildings
10 PRODUCT OF BLOCKWORK SYSTEM
Dense concrete block
Used for load bearing and exposed work in industrial building
2.
It is placed below ground to carry cavity walls. It is light and dense
Foundation block
3.
Lightweight aircrete block
4.
Glass block
5.
can be built into walls and they transmit light
Lightweight aircrete/aerated block may shorten the time and material cost savings through easier handling and larger units.
6.
Ziegel Block
They can used either as a single skin or with cavity wall.
Unfired clay block
It is preferable to reduce the wall thickness to approximately 100mm for internal partition
7.
ICF block
Insulated Concrete Form used as the basis for a single skin wall, the main advantage of using this block is the speed of construction combined with potential to gain high thermal performance
8.
Hemp block
9.
10.
Masonry block

make sure to rub the mortar at the side or above the block then rough it with trowel.

put the blocks above the cement in arrangement lengthwise

hemp can be used for all sorts of building materials, replacing / supplementing traditional materials including wood and concrete
used for load bearing applications, veneer, paving, retaining walls & exterior walls
1. Find a suitable place :
Find a wide open space, even better if it
is shaded, that will work if rain is not that
much in your place
2. Make the mold :
Use plywood planks and nails to make a one
side open box with an inner cavity of 300mm length X 200mm width X 150mm thick. This is
a standard size of a concrete block
3. Prepare the concrete mix
Get a larger container. Put the cement, sand,
and gravel in the container at a ratio of 1:2:3.
Add water inside the container and stir it
until the mixture become pliable enough
to pour in the mold
4. Making the raw concrete block
Pour the concrete mixture in the mold, and stir
or vibrate the mold so that the concrete gets settled in the mold and reached the extreme corners.
5. Curing
The concrete block need to be kept in the mold for 24 hours for drying. Remove the block from
the mold & put it in the water tank for curing. The process will take around 2 weeks
6. Publicity & selling
Once you have sufficient numbers of concrete block, you can place a small local newspaper ad and build a website regarding your service
MAKING AND SELLING METHOD
CONCLUSION
-

From the assignment, we know about the uses of the blockwork according to its types.

- Secondly, we will know how to choose the suitable blockwork that need to used for the construction activities.

- We also know how to install or combine the blockwork correctly.

- Finally, IBS system make works easier apart it also can shorten the time taken to finish many building projects.
thanks for
your attention
erect the wooden poles in the ground and
tie them with thread
Put a few hoe of cement onto the ground according to the line from the thread
Begin resigning the blocks on the ground and compressed using a hammer
Examine the blocks in vertical and horizontal position using a spirit lever
If the storage of cement decreases, mix a new
pail of cement as supply & repeat those steps
After successfully built the wall,
do not forget to clean up the
construction area. It symbolizes discipline and good ethics to others
