Transcript of RA Training: Expectations

Expectations Expectations of You During Fall Training... Bring your binder, writing utensil, Tablet, and schedule to all training sessions. Be on time to every session! Five minutes early is on time; on time is LATE. So be to each session five minutes early. Put cell phones on silent and leave them alone during training sessions. Let your Hall Director know at least 24 hours in advance if you need to miss any training sessions. Be open-minded. Understand that change can be exciting! Take as a given that we won’t be doing things the way that they have always been done. Have fun! Laugh! Have an excellent mental attitude and lots of spirit. Learn as much as you can. Ask questions. Help each other. Recognize that training is not meant to punish you. Your attendance is expected and appreciated. Expectations of You Throughout the Year... Follow policies, procedures and expectations. Let us know how you are doing. Check in with your Hall Director/Assistant Hall Director regularly. Check your email at least once a day. Be a role model to your students. Remember the “fishbowl” concept. Your Turn... Write down at least three expectations that you have of your fellow RAs. Write down at least three expectations that you have of your Senior Staff team. Email these expectations to Becky (rebecca.cornell@sdsmt.edu). **HOMEWORK ALERT** Be present and ON TIME to all staff meetings, In-Services, and one-on-ones with your supervisor. Write down one idea of how you would like your fellow RAs to make up being late to or missing staff meetings. For example, they may be required to bake cookies for you! :)
