Theory:

Example of an Hypothesis:
Students that are involved in
extra-curricular activities will

are not.
Population -
a group of individuals
that have something
in common
Sample - a small portion
of a population selected
for observation
Samples should be.......
Randomly selected -
every member of the
population has an equal
chance of being included

Large enough -
you should be able
to generalize the
information from the

Variable - a trait with two
or more categories
Independent Variable -
the variable that you think
causes a change in another
variable
Dependent Variable -
the variable you measure to
see if it has been changed by another variable
Example: Students that are involved in
extra-curricular activities will
rate school as a more positive
experience than students who
are not.
Independent variable:
Whether or not a student is
involved in extra-curricular
activities

Dependent variable:
How highly the student rates
their school experience
Example: Children who are
younger than their classmates
are more likely to be diagnosed
with ADHD.

likely to remember to charge the batteries
