Computer Hardware Engineer vs Computer Software Engineer
Transcript of Computer Hardware Engineer vs Computer Software Engineer
In 2010 there were around 70,000 hardware engineers in the US.
The amount of jobs in this field are expected to increase at 9% which is much slower than average.
This job has such a slower increase rate because today there are more software advances than there are in hardware. All hardware engineers are required to have at the least a Bachelor's Degree.
Also to be majorly successful a degree in electrical engineering is a recommended. Hardware Engineers create rapid advances in computer technology.
They usually work in research laboratories that build and test various types of computer models.
High-Tech manufacturing firms, company system design, research and development companies , and the federal government are common employers for hardware engineers.
Most hardware engineers spend their days researching, designing, developing, and testing computer equipment. The median pay for a computer software engineer is $90,530 a year and $43.52 per hour.
The outlook for this job is 30% which is much faster than average.
In 2010 there were around 913,100 computer software engineers in the United States. To be a computer software engineer you must have at the least a bachelor's degree in computer software engineering
Also a bachelor's degree in computer science as well as strong computer-programming skills is recommended to be successful in this career. Computer software engineers create and develop computer programs, they can create applications that allow users to perform specific tasks or develop the underlying system that runs the device or controls the network.
Most software engineers work for computer system design and related services firms or software publishers, computer and electronic product manufacturing industries, they work full time. In 2010 nearly 1/4 of software engineers worked more than 40 hours per week. Why do I want to be a Computer Software Engineer? Before doing this project I wanted to be a computer engineer. However, now I realize that in order to learn what I want to know about computers that i need to be a Computer Software Engineer. This is because I'm more interested in learning how to develop and create software than working with hardware. Also, there are more jobs available as a computer software engineer than a computer hardware engineer, and software engineers make more money.
