World War 1- Research project
The use of technology during WW1 played a significant role in who won. It changed the entire face of battle. You could no longer march in a line and fire at each other. One machine gun could wipe out the entire line. The major impact of technology on World War I was that it made the war much more difficult for the infantry soldiers who did most of the fighting. The new technologies led to trench warfare and the lack of new tactics led to massive slaughter at the hands of the new technology. The machine gun and the tank were new technologies that influenced WW1 the most. The machine gun lengthened the war and forced it to become a trench war. The bullets in a machine gun could shoot 500 bullets per minute therefor making it much more difficult for the rivalry county to fight back.
How did the use of technologies during WW1 influence the war?
Both sides benefited from the new technologies. Most likely the Entente had more benefit because once tanks were brought in there wasn't much the Germans could do about them rolling over their trenches. Also the machine gun because it started the whole concept of trench warfare, and without it, people would still be doing head on charges through empty plains.

Which sides benefited the most from which technologies?
Machine guns shorten the war because more people were getting killed. Every technology killed a large amount of soilders. This is because most technologies that was created were designed to kill the opposing country but in some cases backfired, like the poison gas that was designed by the Germans. You couldn't be 100% sure that it would only affect the opposing country. This is because of the wind. The wind blew different directions at different times. But the Germans didn't know that, therefor many were killed with no way of surviving it or protecting themselves without any affect being caused. Most technologies shorted the war because every new technologies that was used had a large impact on lives and the number of people that were killed.
Did any technologies play a role in either lengthening or shortening the war?
There were many new technologies’ that were created and designed specifically for the war. These include tanks, flamethrowers, poison gas, tracer bullets, interrupter gear, pilot less drones, and many more. The most important technology was the machine gun. The machine gun was by far the most important weapon. Without it people could have possibly pushed forward in the war and millions less would have died.Overall the war would have been much longer had there not been any of these technologies. This is because if there weren't any of these technologies less soldiers would have been killed and the process to defeat the opposing country and get more land would take much longer therefor lengthening the war.

Which technologies were most important?

Facts about technology used in WW1!!!

World War 1 began on July 28, 1914 and lasted until November 11, 1918.
It took 200 men several hours to assemble a gun.
Cannons and artillery were often extremely loud. In 1917, the explosives used to destroy a bridge in France could be be heard over 130 miles away in London.
Soldiers fought largely in trenches during the war, and thousands suffered from stress, known as shell-shock. The British and French trenches were often squalid, whereas the German trenches were almost luxurious in comparison, with bunks and decent cooking facilities.
During World War 1, dogs were used to carry messages in capsules attached to their body. Dogs also carried and placed telegraph wires in important areas.
Pigeons were also used during the war. About 500,000 pigeons were regularly dropped into enemy lines by parachute, and then sent back with messages.
