Northgate High School Science Olympiad
Transcript of Northgate High School Science Olympiad
FUN ! ! !
Science Olympiad functions much like a football or soccer team, requiring preparation, commitment, coaching and practice throughout the year. Each school-based team is allowed to bring 15 students who cross-train for a variety of events in their skill set.
Science Olympiad is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 science education, increasing male, female and minority interest in science, creating a technologically-literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement by both students and teachers. These goals are achieved by participating in Science Olympiad tournaments and non-competitive events, incorporating Science Olympiad into classroom curriculum and attending teacher training institutes.
Science Olympiad is a fun experience to have during your years of high school.
We enjoy ourselves studying and preparing for competition, however the most fun is the day of competition where we can test our abilities.
Our Northgate SO Team won 4rth Place in the Reginal Competition earning us a place at the STATE COMPETITION! Great Work Team!!!
The events cover all sciences – Earth, Physical, Biological and Engineering Sciences. In engineering, students are asked to build a bridge, a glider, a gravity vehicle or a robot. They then get to test their design on the day of the competition.
Our 2013 Northgate Science Olympiad Team achieved great success. As we build our team, we look to the future to recruit more students in obtaining more knowledge and exposure in the 'world of science'!
