Date and Place of Birth
I was born August 5th, 1930. I was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio. That is where I also grew up. That is my place and date of birth.
Early Life
I lived in Wapakoneta, Ohio. I was the oldest child and had two siblings. I also played the baritone horn in the jazz band. My father took me on my first plane ride in a Ford Trimotor. Also I cut grass for 10 cents. That's my early life.
I went to Blume High School in 1947. Then I went to Purdue University from 1947 through 1955.Also I went to the University of Southern California in 1970. That is my schooling.
Family Members
I have two siblings, Dean Armstrong and June Armstrong. I got married in 1956 to Janet Shearon. I have three children Eric, Mark, and Karen. But unfortunately, Karen became sick and passed away. Thats about my family members.

Adult Life
I was an American astronaut, an aerospace engineer.That's what I was famous for. Also I was a naval aviator, test pilot, and a university professor.During my careers I have learned a lot. That is my career.
I applied to NASA to be an astronaut. I and 8 others got in. Then I was the commander of Gemini 8. Then I was the commander of the Apollo 11 mission which went to the moon. That's about my adult life.
I died on August 25, 2012 in Cincinnati, Ohio. I was 82 years old when I died.
Interesting Facts
Some interesting facts are I got my pilots license before my drivers license. I had to leave college to go the navy because the United States was about to go to war and needed pilots. Another thing is that the first thing I said on the moon was, " That's one small step for man and a giant leap for mankind." That's some interesting facts about my life.
Contributions in life
Some contributions in my life are leaving the first foot print on the moon. Also fighting in the Korean war. That is some of my contributions in my life.
