FREEDOM What Is Freedom John 8:36 In the book of John verse 36 it says that 'If the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'

What this means is that when Jesus Christ died for us on the cross he took away our sins and therefore set us free.

Jesus is the only person that can set someone free, by forgiving the sins that they have caused on themselves or on others.

Being free allows you to do what ever you want. Being free alllows you to have no obligation to rules or anything. You are not bound to anything or anyone when you are free.

When you are free you have no weight or pressure that is generally placed on your shoulders in hard and lonely
times. Why Is Freedom Important Freedom is important because without freedom no one would truly be themself. They would never admitt to doing something they like if someone else does not. Without freedom people would not express themselves as much as if they were tied down and were put under rules and regulations that forbid them from doing the things they love and enjoy. What Is Freedom To You Freedom could be anything. To somone freedom could be being allowed to go and see a movie at the cinemas with a coulple of friends. To another person freedom could be being allowed to stay up to a certain time. As long as that person enjoys what they're doing, anything could be considered as freedom. Freedom could be being allowed to say anything you want when you want, it's up to you what freedom is. Not Having Freedom Could any of you handle not having freedom? Imagine our world with no freedom, we would never be able to do the stuff we want. We in Australia and in a number of other countries are gifted to be able to have the power of freedom. Not everyone in this world is as lucky as we are. There are other countries where people are slaved and have no rights. They have no freedom.

People may think that slavery no longer exists, in the earlier history people were aloud to trade slaves, there were such things called slave ships. This was when a trader had lots of slaves on the one ship they were all crammed and cuffed in one spot where they were slowly picked off and sold to different areas. This could have been done to families. Could you imagine seeying your mum being dragged away to be a slave to another family?

Thankfully this doesn't happen anymore, but there are still forms of slavery in the
world. The human rights organisation and Anti Slavery International calculate-
s there still to be 200 million people still in slavery. These people don't hav-
the liberty to have fun. These people are always being ordered around, liv-
in the poorest of conditions. They even think that the slaves could sti-
ll be treated as they used to in the past centuries. In the modern world slaves are consist of women and children. Against their will they are forced to work in factories, plantations and do all kinds of jobs. Underage boys could be chosen to go into battle as as a soldier and girls are forced to become prostitutes. Slaves could be sold for very little, even as little as 10 dollars. Even parents could sell their kids into slavery because they need to pay debt to someone. These people have no freedom. They will be probably be slaves for the rest of their lives. They would get no sympathy from their traders, they will always be forced to do stuff that is absurd. These people are good people that deserve a chance to have freedom. John F. Kennedy "The path we have chosen for the present is full of hazards, as all paths are. The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission." What do these words mean to people. John F. Kennedy was a wise man. He knew that freedom came at an expence. Like he said the future we choose will always push us to the limit. But you will only be free if you fight for your freedom. No one will be free unless they demmand it upon themselves. The world fights for itself all the time, whether it is victorious depends on who is fighting and whether they are willing to do everything in their power to fight for what they want. Words of Ronald Regan "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same."

Ronald Regan knew what he was talking about when he said this. No group of people have had it easy all their life. They had to fight at some point. The newer generations of the world have had it a lot easier then the earlier generations. But they will still have to fight for freedom. It will not be handed to them as a present they will have to dig deep and fight for their freedom. Freedom will not always come by easily there maybe a time when we will be attacked and when we will need to defend and protect the freedom we want or have.

With the power of God any shackles can be broken You can conquer all when you use God as your weapon. You can fight for freedom and you will win when you have God with you. Ronald Regan "Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law under God is acknowledged." Nelson Mandela "For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others."

Nelson Mandella is a great man he did many great things. He was the first democratically elected black man. He was elected president in 1993. He fought for the freedom of all the black people in South Africa. There was a racism system called Apartheid. This system discriminated against black people. The white people that lived in South Africa had more privledges then the black men. They had priority in housing, jobs, education and political power. If it was n't for Nelson the black Africans would probably still be under this system. In that time those people didn't have freedom. They were always treated differently because of their race. They were always put next to first because of who they were. That is not having freedom. Nelson Mandella fought for his people, he deserves recognition for what he's done.

Nelson Mandela is a free spirit. He did as he spoke. When he wasn't cuffed he did things to help other people that were in his position. He wasn't ok with just him being free, he desired to help others. He respected the freedom of others and he helped those that were in need.
