Transcript of DANCE

By Hanna W.
Thanks for watching!
There are many different types of arts around the world. One form of art is dance which has many different styles. There are three different styles of dance that make me want to dance all day, every day. These are Ballet, Jazz and Lyrical.
When and where did it come from?
Ballet was originated in Italy in the 15th and 16th centuries,
though it spread quickly to France where it was developed even further.

In the late 17th century Louis the 14th founded the first professional ballet company called "Academie Royal de Musique" which means The Paris Opera Ballet.

Ballet dancers use two different shoes called soft shoes and pointe shoes. Soft shoes are meant to be used when you are dancing on the balls of your feet. With pointe shoes you are supporting all of your weight on the tip of your toes.
Now lets switch gears a bit and move to
When and where did it come from?
Jazz originated from the African culture dances brought by the African slaves in the 1700's and 1800's.
Some of the old types of jazz in the 19th century are the Bogie, Swing, Jitterbug, Cakewalk and the Lindy hop.
Jazz shoes are made of leather and and have thin soles so that it is easier to dance on the balls of your feet.

Jazz dancers mostly dance to pop songs. An example would be Heart Attack by Demi Lavato.
Now let's move on to
When and where did it come from?
Lyrical came from the United Kingdom in the 1990's.
Lyrical is only 23 years old!
The shoes that lyrical dancers wear are called Footundeez. They are meant for the balls of your feet so its easier to spin and turn.
The music that lyrical dancers dance to is soft and flowy. An example is Keep Breathing by Ingrid Michaelson.
