CONCLUSION
The apparent
weakness
of Hamlet, refelcts the
anxieties of man
and, taking off his life after getting revenge for his father's death, leads us to ask what is the death.
He's a
modern man
because everything is extreme in him and has an high conception of existence. It could be considered a
romantic hero
because this type of hero is affected by sufferings of life but with a profound interiority.

INTRODUCTION & HISTORICAL CONTEXT

WHY DID SHAKESPEARE WRITE HAMLET?
WHERE DID THE STORY COME FROM?
HORATIO
Horatio for Hamlet is a companion in a unfortunate venture. He's a shoulder, not a guide in the dark.

"Give me that man
That is not passion's slave, and I will wear him
In my heart's core, ay, in my heart of heart,
As I do thee"

VISION OF THE GHOST
The ghost’s vision is among the clouds
of a dark night. The atmosphere is
mysterious and fearful.

"Adieu,adieu, adieu. Rember me".
REVENGE
"reveange his foul and most unnatural murder"
prodigious AWARENESS
He is the modern man because he , he asks questions, he wants to understand and go trough everything. This makes inside of him a sense of MISTERY.
MADNESS:
How should the man reach truth? The Madness is a safe shelter. Hamlet acts urged by the vision of a ghost.
DEATH
FRIENDSHIP
WITH
"TO BE OR NOT TO BE"
DOUBTS
"Who would bear the whips and the injury, the wrongs of oppression, the insults of the arrogant, the pains of despised love, the delays of injustice, the insolence of power, when he could kill himself without suffering? "
Hamlet says that we're afraid of existence of something after death.
All the tragedy is a discussion of Hamlet with his awareness, and that's "only" a big question:
"Whereto serves mercy
But to confront the visage to offence? "
REGRET
"Yet what can it when one cannot repent?
O, wretched state!
O limed soul, that struggling to be free
Art more engaged! Help, angels!Make assay.
Bow stubborn knees, and, heart with strings of steel, be soft as sinews of the new-born babe.
All may be well".
Uncertainty. Hamlet wishes to avenge his father and punish both his mother and uncle, but he does not know the moral or proper way to achieve justice.
MERCY
It came from the Denmark's legend of "Amlethi" written by Saxo Grammaticus.
He wrote this play to criticize implicitly the English monarchy of the time.
Hamlet for his father against Claudius
Laertes for his father Polonius against Hamlet himself.
" To hell allegiance! Vows to the blackest devil!
Coscience and grace to e prouidest pit!
I dare damnation. To this point I stand,
That both the worlds I give to negligence,
Let come what comes, only I'll be revenged
Most throughly for my father".

-He listens only his instinctive impulse of killing his father's murder. His reaction is radically different from Hamlet's one because he was more reflective and morally deep.
Shakespeare highlights the inability of Hamlet to take action, the author uses the delay to build Hamlet’s emotional and psychological complexity.

ex. Hamlet has the opportunity to kill Claudius in Act 3. He draws his sword, but is concerned that Claudius will go to heaven if killed while praying.
