Transcript of volleyball

The Positions The History There are two outside hitters in the game of volleyball. Outside hitters are the players who hit and block on the front left side of the court. These players are also known as the left side hitters.

In volleyball their is one setter. The setter is in charge of the offense and they decide who should get the ball and when.

There are two middle blockers in the game of volleyball. The middle blocker position is the player at the net in the middle of the court between the two outside players. The middle blocker strives to be involved in blocking the opponent's hitters wherever they may be on the court.

In the game of volleyball there is a position called the libro. The libro is a back row defensive player wearing an opposite colored jersey that specializes in serve recieve passing, digging free ball passing, and setting.
1895- Volleyball was invented by William G. Morgan, a student at Springfield Collage

1920- A special ball was designed for the sport

1964- Volleyball was introduced to the Olympic Games in Tokyo this included, beach and indoor volleyball

1990- Rules were created so that three hits per side and back row attack were allowed

1995- The sport of volleyball was 100 years old

2002- The beach volleyball court dimensions are reduced to 8 meters by 8 meters per side

2004- Kerri Walsh and Misty May win the womens Olympics beach volleyball title

2006- Kerri Walsh and Misty May win the Association of Volleyball Professional (AVP) tournament in Chicago

2008- Oklahoma marks the first ever indoor beach volleyball tour History and Facts about Volleyball One of the Best Players in the World Today
