October 23, 1983 in Beirut, Lebanon the Beirut Barracks Bombings occurred during the Lebanese Civil War when two truck bombs struck separate buildings housing United States and French military forces killing 299 American and French servicemen.
These attacks eventually led to the withdrawal of the international peacekeeping force from Lebanon,
Pan Am Flight 103, going from England to New York JKF was destroyed by a terrorist bomb on Wednesday, 21 December 1988, killing all 243 passengers and 16 crew on board.
Al Megrahi who was Libyan was found guilty for the bombing.
