Situation

- gather background information to the problem
- observe and record the circumstances

- state what is to be designed

requirements
and its
restrictions

Investigation

- gather information (do research), ask other people
and brainstorm many ideas
Construction

- select the best possible solution under the circumstances
-build it (model), produce drawings or sketches
-work out the details
Evaluation

- test the product
- make sure it meets all requirements and restrictions
(if it does not, go back to
investigation
and develop another solution)

Remember** at any step in the process, you may need
to consult an "expert" or someone who has direct experience with the problem to be solved!!
