while touring the afganistan-pakistan border, he entered a large tent that was consdered a girl school. the first girl he saw was a shy girl with fiery eyes. she was about 12 years old

Steve was born, Feb 24, 1950 in the suburbs in Philadelphia. He studied film at Pennsylvania State University. Steve is best known for his photography, "Afghan Girl"
Some of the awards that Steve received, were, the world press photo award for nature, world press photo award for general news, world press photo children's award, and world press photo award for daily life.
