Industry Agriculture Education Then Then Then Now Now Now 2. Teachers are assigned to teach only one grade level. 3. Students are disciplined in many ways,however,hitting a student is no longer a student is no longer a form of punishment. 1.Today,all kids are required to go to school. 1. Prior to the 1800s, most people who called Ohio home earned their living though farming. 2. Farmers had the most success during times of war,providing its allies with food. 3. Most Ohio farmers who produced a surplus,sold their products locally or sent them down the Ohio & Mississippi rivers to new Orleans. 1. In many school,one teacher would be in charge of instructing many grade levels at the same time. 2. Students used to get hit with paddles or rulers if they did something wrong. 3. many poor kids did not have a chance to attend school as they had to work full time to help support their families. 1. Agriculture remains Ohio's #1 industry today. 2. Ohio is still one of the nation's leaders in agriculture. 3. there are nearly 75,000 farmers in Ohio. 1. The first railroad in Ohio was the Erie&Kalamazoo railroad. 2. The little Miami Railroad was one of the Ohio's most important early railroads. 3. most of the first railroads only existed only within the state of Ohio. 1. With many technological improvements,railroading today can operate much faster. 2. As gas prices skyrocket and highways become more crowded,railroading is gaining more support
