Medal Of Honor
Ava Pizzuto & Leigh Capillan
Many sacrifices where made in an attempt to save the lives of others while risking his own. This is a great display of honor for his fellow soldiers.
He was quoted many times for stating his love for America and joined the army in order to give thanks for being saved from the Nazi
Tibor showed extraordinary courage and heroism while serving as a rifleman in the Republic of Korea.
Willam was shot in the face, shoulder, arm and leg because he refused to let the American flag touch the ground.
Carney was willing to die just to make sure the flag wont touch the ground.
Tibor Rubin suffered great loss at a very young age due to the Nazi's. He stayed strong and later became a proud American solider in the Korean War. His valorous actions earned him a Medal of Honor which was awarded by George W. Bush on September 23, 2005. Unfortunately, Rubin had waited 55 long years to receive this well deserved honor. It's disappointing to me that it took this long for our country to express gratitude and appreciation to Tibor for his many sacrifices, yet comforting to know there is a process in place for the recognition.

After immigrating to America and joining the U.S. Army in 1950, Rubin was know to lead his cavalry into battle and at times taking on the enemy single-handedly. On October 30th, Rubin was captured by Chinese forces and lived as a prisoner of war (POW) for two and a half years. The Army has credited him for saving more than forty lives during his captivity.
