Investigating a topic by reading and studying sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions.
How do I know if a source is credible?
Use the CRAAP Test
How do I put info into my own words?
Summary:
a brief statement of the main points.

Paraphrase:
rewording something someone else wrote.

Quotation:
Words taken directly from the text. Use quotation marks! Quote sandwiches are effective for incorporating quotes into your research.

How do I give credit where credit is due?
Citation:
a citation references the source from which your information came. (Works Cited)
Plagiarism:
passing off someone else's work as your own.
Where do I find reliable information?
Websites
.gov and .edu are the most reliable
Check for an author or established institution
Check the date (within the last 5 years is best unless it is historical information that does not change).
What steps do I need to take to research?
1. Decide your topic.
2. Look for
credible
resources.
3. Gather
relevant
information from the sources.
4. Sort the information you gathered.
5. Draft -- process the info into a presentation, an essay, etc..
6. Edit
7. Create the final presentation of your research.
