Advantages of being a Social Worker
Making a difference in peoples lives i probably the best feeling ever, weather it be parenting skills financial struggles ect.
Flexible work environment is a positive aspect dur to a lot of required travel in the community because you are required to visit family's and kids during the investigation possible
Being a social worker can be very rewarding. As a social worker you have the advantage of helping people and making a difference in at least one persons life. The disadvantage to being a social worker are that oftentimes the job requires a lot of patience and can be very stressful.
Disadvantages of being a Social Worker
Working long hours is required of a social worker when gathering information for their investigations.
Getting emotionally involved is a negative part it is very easy when interacting with the children and parents so closely
Making a Difference
Being a social worker means you change and make differences in peoples lives. If a child is in danger due to his family environment, or isn't being cared for properly, its the job of the social worker to evaluate all aspects of the case and make recommendation to the court system as to whats in the childs best intrest.
Facts of social working
Social workers held approximately 595,000 in 2006, according to the Bereau of labor statistics
Most jobs in the social working field require a masters degree
Social workers are employed in various different locations such as hospitals, mental health clinics, schools, non profit agencies and government offices
What do social workers do
The field of social work utilizes social theories to understand human problems, to help improve peoples lives. Many who work in this field specialize particular areas, such as helping children, assisting those life threatening problems , or aiding people in over coming addictions
Social workers :
Act as advocates for their clients
Eduacte clients and teach them new skills
Link clients to essential resouces within the community
Protect vulnerable clients and ensure them of their best interest
Reasearch social problems to look for remedies

Becoming a Social Worker
Where do they work?
According to statistics five out of every ten social worker are employed in the health care and social assistance sectors. This might include hospital , mental health clinics and private practices.
The Job Outlooks
The Bureau of labor suggest that social working careers are expected to grow faster than the average over the next ten years. It is predicted that urban areas will be more competitive , the Department of labor suggest that job demands will also be good in rural locations.
