-Only when the technology is understood in a user’s point of view can it be utilized to throughout the community effectively.

Once Technology is in place there are many obstacles to overcome. It is not easy keeping up with technological advances and new programs that become available.

School should have a budget in place making note of technology inventory and considering ongoing expenses including: repairs, training and maintenance.

These obstacles may exist when integrating technology:
-having accessible locations
-teacher training and ongoing professional development
-funding both up-front and on-going

Best Practices and Trends for Technology Integration
Headline 6
Effective technology integration is achieved when its use supports curricular goals. It must support four key components of learning: active engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback, and connection to real-world experts
Examples
Technology integration is having the curriculum drive technology usage, not having technology drive the curriculum
it requires teacher training
Technology integration is using computers effectively and efficiently in the general content areas to allow students to learn how to apply computer skills in meaningful ways.
incorporating technology in a manner that enhances student learning.
using software supported by the business world for real-world applications so students learn to use computers flexibly, purposefully and creatively
organizing the goals of curriculum and technology into a coordinated, harmonious whole

Increasing information to and involvement of families
-We can provide open computer lab time at teacher conference times to allow parents to sign up for access to school based resources and websites
-Providing apps that communicate directly with parents via text messages about assignments, grades, and behaviors.
-Updating teacher webpages often to include classroom pictures of student projects and work samples to drive parents to visit the site.
