Our Classroom is a community of learners. In our community we have rules to help us get along with each other.
Our class rules are:
be respectful and responsible
be organized and follow directions
be on time
never interfere with another student's learning
Each 4th grader will receive an assignment planner.
Students are responsible for writing assignments in their planners each day.
Students will be asked to pay for a replacement if they become lost or damaged.
Please look over and initial your child's planner each night.
FHPS policy is 10 minutes of homework per grade level each night - plan on 40 minutes.
Expect daily math homework along with occasional reading, social studies, and science work.
Students should practice spelling words and math facts nightly as needed.
Daily assignments not completed during the school day will become additional homework.
Spend any extra time reading.
Homework is due the day after it is assigned unless otherwise noted.
Missing homework will result in sitting at the Homework Table in the lunch room to complete missing work.
Students are responsible for making up assignments missed due to any absence.
Sufficient time will be given for completion of any work missed, generally equal to the time of the absence.
Homework - What is your job as a parent?
Help your child schedule a special time and place each night just for doing homework,
Together, find a place to work with good lighting and not too much noise.
Be available to look over papers and discuss your child's questions and concerns.
If your child has attempted and assignment several times and is "stuck," give a nudge in the right direction, but don't do the work yourself.
If your child is "stuck" and you are unable to help, please write me a note or send me an email.
