In a population-based sample of 5- to 17-year-olds, 70% of obese youth had at least one risk factor for cardiovascular disease." "Obese youth are more likely than youth of normal weight to become overweight or obese adults, and therefore more at risk for associated adult health problems, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer, and osteoarthritis." Keep it Positive! Statistics show that between 10% and 15% of today's children are already obese, and this does not include the children that are at risk for quickly becoming obese. One of the biggest culprits is the high consumption of fast food among children Children who comsume fast food on a regular basis are at high risk of becoming obese, having high cholesterol and for cardiovascular disease. Make a point to commit to family meal times, as this will lower the incidence of obesity in the family
