ANALYSIS AND CONCLUSION PART 1
MY HYPOTHESIS WAS CORRECT :o #HUZZAH

1. USING TABLE 1:
TRIAL 2 PRODUCED THE HIGHEST POPULATION FOR BOTH THE WHALES AND THE SEALS
THIS TRIAL - BY FAR - HAD THE BEST OUTCOME FOR THE WHALE AND SEAL POPULATION < YOU COULD SEE THE HUGE INCREASE IN POPULATION IN BOTH ANIMALS - AND EACH ANIMAL GOT WHAT IT NEEDED [IN MY OPINION] < OR AT LEAST THE WHALES DID [THEY GOT MORE THAN ENOUGH FOOD TO EAT...SEALS OF COURSE xD]
2. USING TABLES 2 AND 3:
BOTH THE SEALS - AND THE WHALES - RELY ON EACH OTHER. < IF THE SEALS BIRTH RATE GOES UP - THE WHALES WILL BENEFIT MORE - AND THUS THEIR POPULATION WILL INCREASE. *THE WHALES WILL HAVE MORE FOOD TO CONSUME AFTER ALL :o
IF THE DEATH RATES OF THE WHALES INCREASE - THE SEALS WILL BENEFIT MORE - AND THUS THEIR POPULATION WILL INCREASE. *THE SEALS WONT HAVE TO WORRY A LOT ABOUT A LARGE AMOUN OF WHALES COMING OVER TO GOBBLE THEM UP AFTER ALL xD

3. MY PREDICTIONS:
AS THE SEALS HABITAT DECLINES - THE WHALES HABITAT SHALL
INCREASE. < DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE WHALES WILL NOW HAVE MUCH MORE SPACE - AND THE SEALS WILL HAVE LESS - THE WHALES WILL HAVE A BETTER CAPTURE EFFICIENCY. HOWEVER - KEEP IN MIND THAT THE MORE THE WHALES CAPTURE: THE FEWER SEALS THERE SHALL BE :( < THUS - AFFECTING THE SEALS POPULATION [AND IN A NEGATIVE WAY]
^ SOONER OR LATER - THERE WILL NOT BE ENOUGH SEALS FOR THE WHALES TO FEED ON - DUE TO THE DECREASING OF THEIR [THE SEALS] POPULATION < THUS - THE WHALES POPULATION WILL TOO DECREASE
PURPOSE:
- ANALYZE GRAPHS TO DETERMINE THE POPULATION SIZE OF TWO MARINE SPECIES
- EXPLAIN HOW PREDATION - BIRTH - AND DEATH RATES IMPACT MARINE POPULATIONS
- DESCRIBE HOW BIOTIC AND ABIOTIC FACTORS INFLUENCE MARINE POPULATIONS
HYPOTHESIS
PREDICTION 1: IF THE STARTING POPULATION OF THE PREY IS HIGHER THAN THE PREDATORS - THE CARRYING CAPACITY OF THE SEALS WILL BE
HIGHER
THAN THE CARRYING CAPACITY OF THE WHALES.

PREDICTION 2: IF THE STARTING POPULATION OF THE PREDATORS IS HIGHER THAN THE PREY - THE CARRYING CAPACITY OF THE WHALES WILL BE
HIGHER
THAN THE CARRYING CAPACITY OF THE SEALS.

PREDICTION 3: IF THE PREY GROWTH RATE INCREASES - THE CARRYING CAPACITY OF THE SEALS WILL BE

*LOOKS LIKE THE SEALS WILL BE AFFECTED IN A POSITIVE WAY - AND THE WHALES WILL BE AFFECTED IN A NEGATIVE WAY IN THIS CASE :o
*Feel sorry for the whales...T^T

4. IF ANOTHER SOURCE OF PREY WERE AVAILABLE TO THE WHALES - BOTH THE SEALS AND WHALES WILL BENEFIT [e.x: THEIR POPULATION WILL INCREASE] :D
You see...THE WHALES WILL BE GETTING MORE FOOD THIS WAY - WHILE THE SEALS WOULDNT GET EATEN BY THE WHALES AS MUCH xD
5. THE SEAL AND KILLER WHALE RELATIONSHIP HAPPENS TO REPRESENT A SIGMOID PATTERN.
^ THIS IS BECAUSE JUST LIKE THE SIGMOID PATTERN - THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE SEAL AND KILLER WHALE SHOWS HOW THE SIZE OF A POPULATION INCREASES QUICKLY WHEN THERE IS FOOD AND HABITAT AVAILABLE - AND HOW GROWTH SLOWS DOWN AS FOOD BECOMES LESS AVAILABLE. ETC...
6. THOUGH THE POPULATION DYNAMICS LAB WAS A RATHER FUN - AND INTERESTING - LAB ACTIVITY TO COMPLETE...IT LIMITED THE AMOUNT OF VARIABLES FOR CURIOUS PEOPLE [LIKE I] TO EXPLORE xD *I WANTED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT SEALS AND WHALES...MORE THAN JUST HOW THEY AFFECT EACH OTHERS POPULATION/HABITAT... :(
*THE LAB ACTIVITY - IN MY OPINION - DOES NOT REPRESENT A REALISTIC REPRESENTATION OF AN ARCTIC MARINE ECOSYSTEM [THOUGH - IT DID DO A GREAT JOB AT TRYING TO - AT LEAST :)]
