What are our main activities as teachers? What do we DO?
(skills, etc.)
(skills, etc.)
We socialize students into intellectual adulthood
What do we tell a student says "I know this material already; just let me submit the papers and take the exams to prove it"?

Why don't we just establish a national curriculum board of top scholars in each field, record first-rate documentary film lectures, and make the lectures available over the internet via an official Coursera?

What do we do if a for-profit company demonstrates that it can deliver knowledge (skills, etc.) more effectively for a lower price?
Education as Socialization:
Wikipedia in the Classroom
The internet is part of life, not an educational tool
Every assignment should serve multiple goals
Social class
Sydney geography
Arab Spring
Audiovisual communication
Project planning
View from the producer side
Make some friends
Find people who can help
Connect with people online
Literally any topic in the world
Insight into a daily use tool
Inherently collaborative
3-part assignment on "Deindustrialization"
