Antarctica Food Chain Everything in Antarctica's food chain is essential from the Phytoplankton to the Killer Whale. The whole chain depends on the Phytoplankton because the krill eats it and alot of the animals in the Antarctic food chain depend on krill. Climate Antarctica has the harshest weather in the world.
It has a total of 6
months sunlight and 6 months
darkness. The coldest ever recorded
tempreture was -88.3 degrees celsius. The warmest
ever was 15 degrees celsius and an average winter
temperature is -34.4 degrees celsius. The purpose of the Treaty is to ensure that Antartica will remain a place of beauty. This shows the dividing of Antarctica.
Survival Future The future of
Antarctica hangs
in the balance.
Due to Global Warming
this unique place is in
danger along with the native
animals.
Going to Antarctica isn't
a picnic. You need training and even then Antarctica will test you to the extreme. Field parties in Antarctica are equiped with special clothing made for Antarctica's conditions. Even then you must be careful. Internet,http://www.antarcticconnection.com/antarctic/weather/survival.shtml, 20/4/10, Survival Animals Antarctica has
very unique animals.
They range from whales
to penguins to fish
and much more. Penguins Seals Whales There are many kinds
of penguins. Some that
live in Antarctica are
the Emperor, Gentoo,
Chinstrap, Adelie, King, Macaroni and Rockhopper penguins. Internet, http://www.kidcyber.com.au/topics/antarcanimals.htm , Animals Emperor Penguin Whales are mammals
like us, not fish.
Whales in Antarctica
include the: Blue Whale,
Fin Whale, Sei Whale,

in Antarctica. Seals
don't see colour very well, though watery greens and blues they are sensitive to. Internet,http://lrs.ed.uiuc.edu/students/downey/project/seals.html Fur seal Australia's Antarctic Bases Australia has 3
main bases, Casey,
Mawson and Davis
that are in Antarctica. Mawson Casey Davis The bases are such
strange shapes and
colours so it's
easy to see the bases. Internet, www.aad.gov.au , Australia's bases. Picture,http://www.chaacreek.com , Orca Antarctica is one of the most arid places on Earth! Orca/Killer Whale
