Transcript of Death Constant Beyond Love

Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Was a Colombian novelist, short-story writer, screenwriter and journalist.
He writes whats known as "magic realism"
About the Story
The name of this story is a take on a famous sonnet written by Spanish poet Quevedo called “Love Constant Beyond Death”. By naming his short story “Death Constant Beyond Love,” Marquez is rejecting the idea that love conquers all and is instead asserting that it is actually death that rules our lives.

My Favorite Quote
"He promised rain making machines, portable breeders for table animals, the oils of happiness which would make vegetables grow in the saltpeter and clumps of pansies in the window boxes" (1654)
