My Story
SCHOOL CLIMATE
School climate reflects the physical and
psychological aspects of the school that are
more susceptible to change and that
provide the
preconditions necessary for
teaching and learning to take place.

#1
Be The
Example
“Effective teachers consistently
strive to improve, and they focus
on something they can control –
their own performance.”
Whitaker, 2004

I AM A PINECREST SCHOLAR
I WILL LEAD NOT FOLLOW
I WILL BELIEVE NOT DOUBT
I WILL CREATE NOT DESTROY
I AM A FORCE FOR GOOD

I WILL SET A NEW STANDARD

I AM WHAT I CHOOSE TO BE
AND EVERY DAY, IN EVERY WAY
I GET BETTER AND BETTER

The Smith Family
exude excitement and adventure?
feel like a family?
give students a sense of belonging?
create opportunities for students to find their identity?
make students feel safe and protected?
empower students?
extrinsically and intrinsically reward students for completed tasks?
Does Your Classroom...
Man can live about forty days
without food,

about three days without water,

about eight minutes without air,

but only for one second

without hope.

The Frog Story
He was drafted #199 in the 6th round.
Poor build. Very skinny and narrow.
Looks a little frail and lacks great physical stature and strength.
Can get pushed down more easily than you'd like.
Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush.
Lacks a really strong arm. Can't drive the ball down the field and does not throw a really tight spiral.
A system type player that could get exposed if forced to
ad-lib.

“We didn’t open up his chest and look at his heart,
we didn’t look at that.” - Steve Mariucci

Be A Talent Scout
If they are not learning
the way you teach,

teach the way they learn.

“No significant learning
occurs without
a significant relationship.”
Dr. James Comer

Journals

Where were you born?
Where do you live now?
What makes you smile?
What is the most important life lesson you’ve
learned so far?
What is your deepest fear?
What is your greatest dream for your life?
Who are you?

What's Your Story
"Young people have always been thirsty
for a caring adult. It doesn't matter the age. They will be drawn to you like a magnet.

And, if you begin to exhibit that (caring) in the classroom, you're going to have to peel them off like Velcro.“

The Ultimate
Climate Changer
“The most important school-related
factor influencing student
achievement is…

teacher quality.”

Rice, 2002

Programs don’t change schools…

people do.

Your child is actually better off
in a “bad” school with an excellent
teacher than in an excellent school
with a bad teacher.

Your students will never reach their full potential until you reach yours.

DONT JUST MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

BE THE
DIFFERENCE.

but they have never failed to imitate them.”
