EXOPLANET EXPLORATION Lucy Madden http://planetquest.jpl.nasa.gov/ current planet count: 430 there is a research bias resulting in a much larger amount of very large exoplanets found because it is much easier to detect bigger planets. the milky way 4 kinds of galaxies:
1. Barred**
2. Spiral
3. Elliptical
4. Irregular search bubble: 500 light years from the sun ways to find planets:
1. radial velocity
2. optical detection planet hunters map ground based telescope spotted: 3 exoplanets about

technology is getting more and more advanced gas giants similar to Jupiter
but more massive. orbiting at between 29 and 64 times the
distance we are with our sun younger than our sun (60 million years)
in Pegasus optical detection if there are smaller planets orbiting we would not be able to see them with our current technology because of the glare from the star. active planetary system breakthrough technology!
