Who is Jesus?
Transcript of Who is Jesus?
The Paschal Mystery is the story of Jesus being condemned to death by the people Jerusalem. He was taken to be nailed on the cross on Calvary. He was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He died and rose on the third day.
2nd person of the Trinity
In the trinity there are 3 people. There is God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus is God the Son, because we all know that he is the Son of God and the word. The role he plays in the trinity is he is the messenger of God. Not only did he die for our sins but he told us to be prepared for his second coming for he will prepare a place for all of us in heaven.
"Christ's threefold office"
Fully human and fully divine?
In the Gospel...
Who is Jesus?
an easier way to understand...
Hypostatic Union- the combination of divine and human natures in the single person of Christ.
Mark 14: 60- 62
60Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”
“And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
incarnation - when Jesus incarnated into a man.
What is this gospel telling us?..
Here Jesus is telling us that he is the messiah; the chosen one, or in other words the son of God. He is the one that the prophets have been talking about in the old testament. Our savior.
Many people consider Jesus more than just Gods son. Some see him as a prophet, others see him as priest, and some even as a king.
Jesus is a prophet because he proclaimed the will of God, in other words he told us what God wanted to happen. He was also an inspirational teacher for many.
Jesus is seen as a priest because he is our teacher. He is the one teaching us throughout the father, priest and gospels.
"Jesus is the king of kings and lord or lords"
Why is Jesus a king? In the gospel he tells us he is the king of heaven and the king of out hearts.
Jesus is fully divine because he is God and he is human at the same time. There is no 50 50, he is all 100% both.
Arnold Palmer is a good example for hypostatic union. Because it is half tea and half lemonade and you can't tell at all that it is half and half. Its all mixed together.
Completing Gods mission but also completing his kingdom in heaven for us when he comes back to earth. Also he created our religion known as Christianity.
How did Jesus establish a church and a kingdom?
He died for us....
Jesus loves us so much and did not want us to go to hell that he died for us to save us form our sins.
IT SAYS SO IN THE BIBLE!
" 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Jesus was so great that he resurrected on the third day of his death as he had told his disciples he would.

John 10: 22-42 Further Conflict Over Jesus’ Claims
22 Then came the Festival of Dedication[b] at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. 24 The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”
25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[c]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
31 Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, 32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”
33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”
34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods”’[d]? 35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside— 36
what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?
37 Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. 38 But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” 39 Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp.
40 Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed, 41 and many people came to him. They said, “Though John never performed a sign, all that John said about this man was true.” 42 And in that place many believed in Jesus.
Jesus is my Lord and savior..
He is my Lord because I worship and pray to him. He is my savior because he died for me and washed away my sins.
