Transcript of Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence Topic: Domestic Violence and abuse.
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience of the dangers of domestic violence and where to get help.
Thesis Statement: If we pull together we can get a grip on domestic violence.
Method of Organization: Monroe's motivated sequence. 1 in every 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. More than 3 women a day are murdered by their partner or spouse. Domestic violence can affect anyone, including your best friend, your co-worker, your neighbor, your children and you.
Also...
domestic violence can affect people of any color or race or any financial or class classification. It can affect homeless people and also wealthy people. Need
"Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States." (NCAD) By raising awarness and offering more safe houses and havens, these numbers may decrease. Did you know!?!?!?!
There are around 1,500 safe houses for battered women; there are around 3,800 animal shelters. "One woman is beaten by her spouse or partner every 15 seconds in the United States." It could be happening to you or someone you know. Domestic violence and abuse are used for one purpose and one purpose only: to gain and maintain total control over you. What can we do to help solve, and try and prevent it? Satisfaction Inform people of the warning signs; make hotlines and safe havens more widley known. Plan of action: to raise awarness by fundraising, flyer distribution, and public speaking about the topic. Domestic violence is a viscous cycle that will never stop. With a little determination we can make an impact on what is happening. Visualization A positive solution to this problem would be that fewer women would be abused and battered. Money that goes to battered womens shelters and abuse hotlines could be used on other things. There would be a smaller crime rate due to the fact that domestic violence disputes make up part of the crime rate. People would be more happy with themselves and others. A negative solution would be that the same amount if not more women would be abused.
They would loose their self value and worth.
They wouldn't want to work anymore or go out in public.
All desire will be lost and possibly the want to have children.
People would be beating eachother all over the world with barley any consequence. Conclusion Domestic violence affects more than four million women a year. Help by spreading awarness!!
