Policy Immigration "Immigration Law Should Reflect Our Dynamic Labor Market" Existing Policies: "As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others" (Libertarian Party Platform). -key labor force-> cheaper, better products
-educated or people with high ambition Liberal Republican Party DREAM act Democratic Party There are many parties seeking power in the Federal Government.
The Federal Government controls the USA's international policies.
Which party wants to do what then?
How can we place them on a spectrum? The United States Libertarian Party advocates Libertarianism -- a political philosophy emphasizing freedom and liberty . The Libertarian Party calls for immigration to essentially be unrestricted in the U.S.
The party believes that there should be no laws against immigration since so many people break those laws. provide a way for undocumented immigrants to earn citizenship reduce backlog of citizenship applications. protect immigrants
from exploitation. "When large numbers of otherwise decent people routinely violate a law, the law itself is probably the problem. To argue that illegal immigration is bad merely because it is illegal avoids the threshold question of whether we should prohibit this kind of immigration in the first place" (Party Platform on Immigration). enter country under 16

=6 years to get 2 year college degree/2 years military service for permanent residence. Wants to remove laws restricting free immigration in general.
Wants to create easy ways for illegal immigrants to become citizens.
Wants to keep the restrictions that are in place against those illegal immigrants that are criminals. 2008-Postville Raid undocumented workers want jobs to provide better living conditions for family members.

Families should be reunited in one country Reinforce Borders "I'm pleased that you all are here to witness the signature of the Secure Fence Act of 2006... This bill will make our borders more secure. It is an important step toward immigration reform... The bill authorizes the construction of hundreds of miles of additional fencing along our southern border...We're modernizing the southern border of the United States so we can assure the American people we're doing our job of securing the border. By making wise use of physical barriers and deploying 21st century technology we're helping our Border Patrol agents do their job." According to the party, immigrants are a very important part of the national economy because they provide needed labor. "Yet our system offers no legal channel for anywhere near a sufficient number of peaceful, hardworking immigrants to legally enter the United States even temporarily to fill this growing gap [of labor]" (Party Platform on Immigration). consume government resources

Green cards to family of permanent residents 0:24-2:41 "Those who enter the United States illegally should not be rewarded with permanent legal status or other such benefits, and they should be penalized in any road to citizenship. Those who enter and remain in the country illegally are violating the law, and condoning or encouraging such violations increases the likelihood of further illegal conduct."
-Heritage Foundation The U.S. Border Patrol simply cannot handle its mission under present restraints. Its job is to protect the American public and preserve the sanctity of our international borders. That cannot be accomplished while our borders are over run by aliens of every nationality and while bureaucrats place unreasonable restrictions on how agents operate. I urge the immediate deployment of U.S. military troops and equipment on our borders to seal them against those who would cause us harm. This could be only a temporary measure to allow us to regain control to again become a sovereign nation."
-David J. Stoddard (border patrol agent) Conservative How should we change ? Strict policy in immigrants extreme hardships
individual circumstaces Exceptions no citizenship to children born in the US under illegal immigrants
use of troops against invasion
