My fave:Kisses Different types of chocolate Factory facts Park Was born on September 13, 1857, near Hockersville, Pennsylvania. Date of birth On May 25, 1898, Hershey married Catherine "Kitty" Sweeney. Since the couple could not have children, they decided to help others, establishing the Hershey Industrial School with a Deed of Trust in 1909. [5] Catherine died prematurely in 1915 and Hershey never remarried. In 1918, Hershey transferred the majority of his assets, including control of the company, to the Milton Hershey School Trust fund, to benefit the Industrial School. The trust fund has a majority of voting shares in The Hershey Company, allowing it to keep control of the company. In 1951, the school was renamed the Milton Hershey School. The Milton Hershey School Trust also has 100% control of Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company, which owns the Hotel Hershey and HersheyPark, among other properties. He took great pride in the growth of the school, the town, and his business. He placed the quality of his product and the well-being of his workers ahead of profits. The captivating story of Hershey's spans nearly a century and a half of industrial and social change. It was in the year 1894 that candy manufacturer Milton Hershey made the decision to try adding chocolate coating to his caramels. Calling this new enterprise the Hershey Chocolate Company, he located it near the area he had been born, amid the rolling farmland of Derry Township, PA. By the summer of 1905, with the milk from nearby dairy farms and the spirit of hard-working local people, his new factory started turning out delicious milk chocolate. VSGAGA By:MallieFernandez His death is october 13, 1945. Facts Milton Snavely Hershey lived in rural Dauphin County in Pennsylvania, near the present-day towns of Hockersville and Hershey. His family, of German and Swiss heritage, were members of Pennsylvania's Mennonite community. Being a youngster in rural Pennsylvania was not easy. There was work to be done. Like many rural young people of the time, Milton was expected to help out on the family farm, and he learned early on of the value of hard work and perseverance. His schooling was limited. He attended several one room school houses as a youngster, but his formal education ended before he entered the fifth grade when his father decided that he should become an apprentice in the printing trade. His father helped him acquire an apprenticeship with a Lancaster printer, but Milton Hershey had little interest in the trade. So he left the printer apprenticeship and soon found himself working for a Lancaster confectioner. Candy and confections were much more agreeable to young Hershey than paper and ink. In 1903, Milton S. Hershey, founder of the Hershey Chocolate Company, surveyed a site that would be suitable for his park. Until 1906, it was simply a little park area for Hershey employees to visit and have picnics. On May 30, 1906, Hershey dedicated the park and called it Hershey Park. Over the years, attractions were added and removed, including a roller coaster, thrill rides, and funhouses. In 1970, the park was redeveloped after being in disrepair for a number of years. The name was changed to Hersheypark and it has operated under that name ever since. Bye
