People of the Civil War Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson William T. Sherman John Clem He was a confederate general during the Civil War. He was born on Jan. 21, 1824, and died May 6, 1863. He was one of the best known generals during the Civil War after Robert E. Lee. By: Seth Brown He served the Union during the Civil War and was a general. He was born Feb. 8, 1820 and died Feb. 14, 1891. His famous Sherman's march to the sea was based to destroy the souths tactics and the war would end faster. John Clem was one of the youngest people to get injured in war. He was the drummer boy for the Union. He was born Aug. 13, 1851 and died May 13, 1937. FINISH!!!! FINISH!!!! George Brinton McClellan He was one of the major generals on the Union during the Civil War. He was born Dec. 3, 1826 and died Oct. 29, 1885. He played a major role for the Civil War, he organized the whole Union army. George Thomas He secceded with the South but was still loyal to the Union. He was born July 31, 1816 and died March 28, 1870. He was also a general. James Longstreet He was one of the generals on the confederate side. He was born Jan. 8, 1821 and died Jan. 2, 1904. He fought in the seven day battles. Harry Hays He was a general of the union army. He was born on April 14, 1820 and died August 21, 1876. After the war he served as a sheriff. Robert Smalls He was a slave who worked for the confederate army. He was born on April 5, 1839 and died Feb 23, 1915. One day he hijacked a ship full with new confederate cannons.
