Lindsay Stivers Classifying Colonies Jamestown, Virginia Jamestown was the first PERMANENT colony in North America. Significance: Blah blah blah blah Mission: GOD GOLD GLORY Significance: "King Nicotine" saves Jamestown. Pennsylvania Colony Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn in 1682. William Penn called Pennsylvania the "Holy Experiment." WOMEN WERE EQUAL! fact NO SLAVERY! The land was extremely fertile, so small scale became a main economic endeavor for Pennsylvania. Massachusettes Bay Colony Many strong reformers came from this colony, such as Benjamin Franklin, Susan B. Anthony, and one more. Because of the Quakers' beliefs, Pennsylvania was very liberal and practiced freedom of religion.

The Quakers believed that they should be nice to indians, that they should never use violence, that religious freedom was important, etc.
