Art History Good Example Gustave Caillebotte
Transcript of Art History Good Example Gustave Caillebotte
As an Impressionist, Caillebotte was one of the artist's that participated in the five Impressionist exhibits. Caillebotte was best known for his "Frozen in Time" paintings. Like this painting, they depicted everyday life, but frozen, all were pedestrians having a regular day. This photo depicts the rainy day of a street in Paris with people walking through with umbrellas and living normal leisure life at the time. It is rather lifelike and depicts life well.. The best part is the cutoff figure at the right that surprised many people, as the first, it inspired others.
Influenced by Japanese Prints and Photography..
Inspired others with the cutoff figure in his painting.
Encouraged by Edgar Degas and Auguste Renoir to submit his paintings in the exhibits.
Exhibited many of his paintings of around Paris and France, helped with the collections, and curate.. Yet, he is least known of the other Impressionists.
Since his father owned a textile business, he didn't need to earn money from his art, so he barely sold any of his work, further making him obscure.
Wasn't until he bequeathed his collection to the state when he started becoming popular.
Much is still unknown about him today..
This work is very historical as this painting was one of his works that recognized him. Plus, his work had been the first to start the cutoff images of people.. His start of it intrigued and influenced many people, as nobody at the time thought of it. People still use it today.. He also helped with the exhibits of the other Impressionist's, so the others took light of him and were grateful.. He seems like a person who is real helpful, and isn't afraid to help..
