Ralph and Piggy
Piggy is Ralph's main support system throughout his power struggle with Jack
Although Ralph is more popular with the boys than Piggy, Ralph relies on Piggy's practical ideas and advice
At first, Ralph didn't appreciate Piggy's influence and took him for granted, however as the story progresses, so does Ralph's friendship with piggy
Throughout Ralph's feud with Jack, Piggy remains loyal to Ralph and keeps Ralph going during times of despair

Ralph's power falls when the conch is destroyed
if you even did listen hahahahaha
"...the conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist."
civilization and order slipping away
losing his power and influence
not getting rescued
reassures everyone and himself that the beast is not real
What it symbolizes:
Civilization and order
Gives Ralph a false sense of power
Represents leadership, power and organization
“As the island civilization erodes and the boys descend into savagery, the conch shell loses its power and influence among them.”
refuses to lose hope
transforms from beastie to beast
Before Ralph finds the conch, he is care free and still maintains a childhood of innocence
At the beginning, Ralph is primarily focused on leading the boys until they are rescued
Is still developing leadership skills and relies primarily on the conch
When the fire goes out, Ralph finally speaks up and uses his leadership skills to refocus the boys on being rescued
IT'S A STAMP!!!
fear is rooted in their heads
Ralph loses total innocence after participating in the brutal execution of Simon
The subsequent death of Piggy causes Ralph to lose all hope in getting rescued
When Ralph is rescued he"wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man's heart, and the fall through the air of the true, wise friend called Piggy"
This quote shows Ralph's realization that his life will never return to the way it was and that he can never erase the scarring events that transpired
