Transcript of Nevermore Book Report

Book Report Nevermore The book "Nevermore" is the final book in the eight book series "Maximum Ride" by James Patterson. The prologue begins by continuing onto the events of the previous book. The prologue starts by introducing one of the main characters, Angel, perched on a scorched rock cliff in France after the events preceding Nevermore. The author writes the prologue in italics, signaling that we are reading Angel's thoughts. Angel glimpses into the future, revealing the coming chaos of the apocalypse. Despite the warnings from nature, earthquakes and floods, and despite the efforts of science. Despite everything, in the end, nothing was able to stop the Earth from being taken back for nature.

Part one begins in the present, introducing the main characters Max, Iggy, Gazzy, Total, Nudge, and Dylan in their home in Oregon early in the morning before going to school. The problem begins while Max is watching the news, which states that serious natural disasters-typhoons, mudslides, earthquakes and floods- are demolishing whole countries, Another part of the problem is the 99 percenters, a group of 99% human hybrids.

Halfway through part one, the main character Fang is introduced. Fang and his gang, consisting of Ratchet, who has super hearing and sight, Holden, who has the ability to heal instantaneously like a starfish, Star who has super speed, Kate who is super strong and Maya (A.k.A Max 2)who is Max's clone, start out to Chicago when they are attacked by wolf-human hybrids (a.k.a Erasers.) Kate and Star refuse to fight the Erasers, which is when Fang realizes they are traitors. Maya is killed in the battle and Fang banishes Kate and Star. Fang disbands his gang, leaving Ratchet and Holden.

The book ends after the apocalypse causes the world to change, with half of it underwater, and the rest high cliffs. Max realizes that they were made for this world, and that this is The Time of Maximum Ride. Summary Maximum "Max" Ride - Characters The book introduces the main characters Max, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy and Dylan getting ready for school in their home in Oregon. The problems of natural disasters and the 99 percenters begin in the previous four books, but become more serious in Nevermore. The climax is shown in chapter 80 when Dylan runs in on Max and Fang cuddling in Max's room to inform them that the sky is falling, and Max and Fang realize that the apocalypse is coming with a vengeance. The resolution of the book comes in the final epilogue when Max wakes up underwater in the new world designed for her and her flock. The Time of Maximum Ride. Plot This book is amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a book that will really suck you in and make you feel like you're a part of it. However, I would also recommend that you read the entire series, as this is the final book. Recommendations Max is the title character and the primary protagonist of the series. She is a 15 year-old avian-human hybrid and the leader of the Flock. She is 5 feet 8 inches tall with tan, white and black speckled 13 foot wings, and is half hispanic with blonde hair, brown eyes and tanned skin. Max is described as a tomboy, with a witty and sarcastic attitude offset by her soft side. The entire flock has special abilities, and Max's is that she can fly incredibly fast, hitting speeds over 300 miles per hour, unlike any other member of the Flock, except Fang. She, like the rest of the flock, has invisible gills. Her bird DNA may have come from a hawk or eagle, since her wings are mostly brown and white. Fang - Fang is a 15 year-old avian-human hybrid. He is second-in-command of the Flock and Max's best friend (and later her boyfriend). He is only 4 months younger than Max. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall with black wings with a purple shimmer, and olive skin, black hair and black eyes. He is somewhat reserved, but cares deeply about the Flock. He is usually very silent, and seems quite mysterious, always hiding his feelings. Fang's special ability is being able to virtually disappear by staying very still and quiet. He is somewhat stronger than the rest of the flock, often sustaining near-fatal wounds. Iggy - Iggy is a 15 year-old avian-human hybrid. He is 6 months younger than Max, and nearly 7 feet tall with grey wings, pale skin, strawberry blond hair, very light blue eyes, and a wingspan of over 14 feet. Iggy is blind, though he can see if his surroundings are white, and can identify people by feeling their fingerprints and the feel of their wings, he can also feel colors. Despite his blindness, the Flock often leave things up to him that require precision or detail, such as cooking and doctoring. His sense of hearing is also the best of the flock because of his blindness, although he always wants "the easy way out" of situations and hates his blindness. He and Gazzy are best friends and have a habit of building bombs out of almost anything. He is one of the only two Flock members to have met his parents, the other being Max. His real name is revealed to be James Griffiths. When he found his parents, he learned that he was kidnapped by the scientists who made him 98% human and 2% avian when he was about 4 months old. At first, Iggy decides to leave the Flock to live with his parents, but later leaves when he learns that his parents didn't want to have him back and only wanted to use him to make money off his story. Nudge - Nudge is a 12 year old avian-human hybrid. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall, with tawny brown 11 foot wings, brown skin, brown eyes, and wild, long, dark brown hair. Her real name is revealed to be Monique, and she managed to track down who she believes to be her mother because of the resemblance in skin tone, but never meets her because she is attacked by the guards of The School. Nudge is a "motormouth". The Flock calls her the Nudge Channel because when she's awake it's all Nudge, all the time. She likes fashion, especially about hair, clothes, and make-up. She frequently wishes to be normal, and on more than one occasion has tried to have her wings cut off. Nudge's special abilities are that she can can hack into computers with her ability to sense leftover emotions, also called psychometry, and can also draw metal to her by will. The Gasman - Gazzy is a 9 year-old avian-human hybrid. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, and brown wings with a 10 foot wingspan. He is Angel's biological older brother, and they are the only "true" siblings of the Flock. He has a mischievous nature and makes fun of Max sometimes. He has digestive problems, leading to his nickname. He is an expert at constructing and setting off bombs and explosives, along with Iggy, his closest friend in the Flock. It is revealed that his parents sold both Gazzy and Angel to the School when they were very young. Gazzy's main ability is to perfectly mimic any voice. Angel - Angel is a 7 year old avian-human hybrid. She has fair skin with blue eyes and curly blond hair. Angel is also the biological sister of The Gasman (Gazzy). Her wings are pure white and are 9 feet across. She obtains seemingly random powers at random times, such as the ability to breathe underwater and to talk to fish, but her main power, lasting throughout the series, is to read and control minds. She is usually mistaken to be powerless and innocent, but she is truly extremely intelligent and dangerous. She goes missing after she and Gazzy fail to defuse a bomb, and the others think she is dead while in fact, she is being held captive at The School, and is continually told she is "most superior". After many tests, they show Angel a video. Angel starts to cry as she realizes the video is of Iggy. She watches people prod and cut open Iggy's eyes until a scientist walks to her and tells her they will be performing the same operation on her. Angel loses her sight temporarily and nearly dies in a fire until Max and the Flock come to save her. Dylan - Dylan is a 2 year old avian-human hybrid who joins the Flock in the sixth Maximum Ride book. He is said to be Max's "perfect other half", causing Max to refer to him as "Mr. Perfect", although Max and Fang are quite in love when they meet. He is six foot one inch tall with a 15-foot wingspan, and is usually described as handsome, with dark-blond hair and turquoise eyes, and is said to have a beautiful singing voice, though his songs are usually very cheesy and irritating. He is in love with Max, but he was programmed by the scientists to feel that way. Because of this, he and Fang almost never see eye-to-eye. He was also made in a lab, created from a clone of a 16 year-old boy who had died in a car accident in the country of Canada. Total - Total is a black Scottie whom Angel saves from a genetics lab at the end of the first book. He is described to have the characteristics of a Scottish terrier. Total's character is not fully developed until the second book, when it is discovered that he has the ability to talk. He is often humorous and dramatic. Despite his dramatic nature, he can be mature when he wants to be and will not tolerate getting treated like a normal dog. In the end of the sixth book, Total marries Akila, an Alaskan Malamute whom he met in Antarctica in the fourth book. He is known to be a fan of culture, including theatre and cuisine. He has the ability to jump to great heights, and eventually grows his own tiny wings. At first, he has trouble flying but soon gets the hang of it.
