Texture An element of art that refers to the way that the surface of an object feels. We have five senses. Which do we use most with texture? Refers to texture that exists all around us in three dimensional space (i.e. gravel, a brick, cat's fur.) 4 Ways that Artists Refer to Texture Actual
Abstracted Actual Simulated Rubbed Abstracted Refers to texture that imitates real texture. This is when the artist tries to make the surface look as real as the object. Technique where the impression of texture is rubbed and imprinted on paper. This is when actual texture becomes the inspiration for invented patterns. These patterns are created by repetition of lines or shapes.
