returned to Venice He traveled with his father and uncle from Palestine along the silk road to China. 1271-1275 Marco polo worked in the service of the Mongol emperor, Kublai Khan. Kublai Khan Marco Polo traveled widely in the Mongol empire for 17 years. 3 years later he was captured by the Genoese and thrown into prison (where he dictated the story of his travels which became very popular). Marco Polo was an explorer and traveler He was born in Venice, Italy in 1254 and died on January 8 1324 in Venice, Italy (he died at the age of 70).
