Transcript of Odysseus

Troy Odysseus fights the Trojan War Ismarus Odysseus and his crew sack the city and engage in a battle. Lotus-Eaters They went to meet the lotus eaters who gave them lotus to eat, some of the crew members who ate it forgot their longing for home. Odysseus made them leave in a hurry. Land of the Cyclopes Odysseus meets the cyclops, Polyphemus, who ate two of Odysseus' men each day, until they were able to escape. Aeolian Island Before leaving Aeolia, Aeolus gives Odysseus a bag of trapped wind and warns Odysseus not to open the bag. The bag is opened, they are swept back into Aeolia. Odysseus and his crew return to Aeolia a second time, but arent welcomed with the hospitality that Aeolus had previously showed. Lamus Odysseus loses all his fleet and men, except his own ship and men. Lotus-Eaters Odysseus and his crew meet the lotus eaters, where some of the men eat the lotus and forget the longing to go home. Odysseus and the rest of his crew leave. Island of Aeaea The home of Circe, where Odysseus stays for a year. Circe advises odysseus to visit Hades to talk to the prophet Tiresias before returning home. Journey to the Underworld Odysseus speaks to the prophet Tiresias, and cautions Odysseus on Helios' cattle and warns him about Scylla and Charybdis. Return to Aeaea Odysseus and his crew return to Aeaea, to bury the rest of his shipmates. Circe warns him the dangers of the Sirens, and Scylla and Charybdis. Thrinacia Sirens Odysseus and his crew manage to sail safely pass the Sirens without any losses. Scylla & Charybdis Home of Helios' sacred cattle. Though Odysseus and his crew were warned not to eat the cattle.While Helios' is away, they end up eating some of their cattle. Helios was angered and asked Zeus to punish those who had eaten his cattle. Zeus brings a great storm, completely destroying Odysseus' ship and killing his men. Odysseus chooses to sail into Scylla than the whirlpool Charybdis, and loses six men. Island Ogygia Odysseus washes ashore home to Calypso. He stays seven years. Scheria King Alcinous, Queen Arete, and Daughter Nausicaa welcome Odysseus with gifts, clothing, food, and entertainment. King Alcinous offers Odysseus one of his ships so he could return to his homeland. (Kingdom of Alcinous) Ithaca After 10 long and hard years, Odysseus returns at last to Ithaca
