Transcript of Circulatory
The Circulatory System
Functions of the Circulatory system
The circulatory system:
-Takes oxygen to all parts of the body
-Takes materials to all parts of the body
-Takes waste away.
Organs in the circulatory system
Types of blood cells
There are several types of white blood cells. White blood cells have a nucleus and tend to live longer than red blood cells. White blood cells produce antibodies to fight disease.
White blood cells may be bigger, but there are many more red blood cells. Red blood cells outnumber white by
Red blood cells carry oxygen and other materials around the body.
Platelets are not really cells, platelets are parts of cells.
They are the things that repair cuts and scratches by producing fibrin.

Step 4. Blood travels through the arteries and into the...
Arteries are thick and flexible so they can stand the pumping of the heart.
Capillaries connect arteries with veins and also help transfer materials between tissue and blood. They have a one cell thick wall.
Step 5. They use the blood and send it to the...
Veins are larger than arteries, but they have thinner walls.
Heart: The heart is the organ where it pumps blood to other parts to the body.
Lungs: The lungs are the organs that provide oxygen when breathing.
Plasma is the part of the blood the blood cells are in. It carries hormones, glucose, and proteins. It makes up 60% of blood.
THIS SLIDE IS TOO SMALL FOR PREZI, BUT NOT IMPRESS.JS!
That frame is gigantic compared to this!

Fluttering in the chest
Atrial Septal Defect(ASD)
Heart muscles don't respond to
sinus node. You could be born with it but smoking andd other enviromental effects cause it.
Destroying bad muscle
Part of the septum, the thing that seperates the chambers of the heart, is gone. Sometimes occurs geneticly; sometimes something goes wrong while you were making your septum before birth.
If it is minor, a person can live with it.
Inability of hardened arteries to cope with increased blood flow due to the fact that not enough blood is going to the heart.
Taking nitroglycerin to get more blood to the heart.
The circulatory system is like a car because the engine of the car works with gas and pumps with its pistons and just like blood, fuels the whole "body"(car). With the engine, the car is able to do its everyday needs. There might not be the veins or the arteries but we provide that "blood"(fuel) that it needs. Our heart and the engine of the car both work the same way.
Step 6. The veins then transport blood back to the...
The system interacts with the respiratory system because when the lungs breath in O2, the blood that is sent to the lungs is now oxygenized. Another system it interacts with is the skeletal system which makes the blood cells which is transported to the heart.
