The Necklace By Guy de Maupassant Characters: Mathilde, Mathilde's husband, Madame Forestier
Setting: Paris and poverty Mathilde and her husband get invited to a ball and she has nothing to wear. Mathilde's husband tells her she should borrow jewlery from Madame Forestier. Mathilde loses the necklace and has to pay alot of money to replase it. Mathilde and her husband live their life in even more poverty so they can pay off all of the loans taken out to replace the necklace. Mathilde finds out that the necklace she borrowed was a fake and not worth alot of money.
