Students become more responsible adults because they have more responsibilities.
Students solve problems themselves.
Allow teachers to teach students indirectly to be responsible and productive members of society. Cons to Love and Logic Some students need very structured environments to thrive.
If a teacher displays too much empathy, the students could be "babied."
This method could cause teachers to become too lenient. Love and Logic Love and Logic Consultant Teachers
Set enforceable limits through enforceable statements
Provide message of personal worth, dignity, and strength through choices
Provide consequences with empathy rather than punishment
Demonstrate how to take good care of themselves and be responsible
Share feelings about their personal performance and responsibilities
Help people solve problems by exploring alternatives while allowing them to make their own decisions
Provide latitude, within reasonable limits, for students to complete responsibilities
Include thinking through questions
Use more action than words to convey values
Allow students to experience life's natural consquences, allow time to think through a problem, encourage shared thinking and shared control, and let them be teachers as well as students.
Why is it low control?

Falls within definition of "Low Control"
Four principles:

The 3 R's of Discipline:
Restitution: fixing what the student did - involves repairing the physical damage
Resolution: determining a way not to let the behavior happen again.
Reconciliation: honoring the restitution plan and making a commitment to live up to the resolution
3 Philosophical stances:
Kids are worth it
Treat children as you would like to be treated

How it works:
Small guidance from the teacher.
Put students in situations that call for decisions and ask them to make the decision.
Do not rescue the students from bad decisions
Give ownership of problems and situations.
Why is it low discipline?
Low discipline is the guiding model, inner discipline teachers slightly guide their students. Cons of Inner Discipline If not organized, students could create chaos.
Students may take advantage of the teacher since the teacher allows students to make decisions.
If the students do not want to make good decisions, it won't do any good.
