What is EMBS?

IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS)
is the world's largest international society of biomedical engineers. It is one of 40 Societies and Councils within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Our members have an interest in biomedical engineering, and range from medical doctors and clinical engineers to physicists and students
The IEEE EMBS advances the application of engineering sciences and technology to medicine and biology.
Presenting conferences that bring together scientists, engineers and physicians from multiple disciplines to disseminate knowledge and solve complex problem.

8 Students.
From 1/9 to 13/12/2012 the students organized 15 different events on different levels.

Electrical stimulation technique
This technique is the hope for the people who have Paraplegia
Electrical spinal cord stimulation
it is become the solution for the paraplegia

The Electrical spinal cord experiment was used by doctors in paralytic rates suffering spinal cords rupture , After electrical stimulation of damage area.They implanted electrical electrodes in such area and combined stimulate hormones that was given for the stimulation of urological receptors.
After experiment : Rats was able to move extremities.
when all research & results become ready about this technique it is applied on people
This experience apply on four people who lose movements in their bottom limbs , but until now the patients cannot walk , they can move there leg & fingers & knee

Electrical spinal cord stimulation

The device & the concept

It is A set of electrodes that are shipped by a small battery , implanted in the spinal cord of patients .
When you play it sends a series of electrical pulses that mimic the signals transmitted by the brain . And thus it urges the neural network to direct muscle movements
Electric charges make the spinal cord more responsive to the few message that still sends from the brain .

The bottom of the spinal cord has become more active due to electrical stimulation so was able to respond to messages that reaches him from the brain

patients notes the results of the stimulation they managed to move the fingers of fate and knees and ankle , They are now able to voluntary movement of the limb and control voluntary
And control some functions of the member such as bowel and bladder, and research continues to this topic



one of the patients was suffering of Complete paralysis
He was The first one who has undergone this experience the results of this was extremely good Due to the critical injury patient in the spinal cord
He is can move his leg , knee & his finger after implanted the device





Roob said : I feel great just when your ability to move the part you think that it is impossible to restore movement to him

This technique will be the solution for Paraplegia and Spinal cord injury
