Roswell Case Closes On a hot day in July of 1947, a rancher Mac Brazel discovered strange metal strewn across a wide area of range land he tended. Because of the material's unusual characteristics, Brazel took pieces of the debris to the authorities in Roswell, New Mexico. Intrigued by the debris, Colonel Blanchard, commanding officer at Roswell Army Air Field, ordered two intelligence officers to investigate. These two men were Major Jesse Marcel and Captain Sheridan Cavitt. Upon their report, Colonel Blanchard quietly ordered that the ranch area be cordoned off. Soldiers removed the debris, sending it to Army headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. This event in American History has impacted me indirectly, because this was a religious group in California that had there beliefs and there reasons why they thought the World was coming to the end. They followed their leader to what they thought would help bring them into a higher place. So this had no effect onto me in my life. This event has indirectly impacted my life, yet i still ponder the thought of weather aliens do exsist or they do not. I feel that we as people on Earth do not fully know if there is a life form in some other galaxy (aliens). But i feel that there is, and that there could possibly be another form of life on other planets and galaxies. This event has impacted me indirectly On August 5th , 1997 at 8:33 a.m. Tyler Anthony Kemerer was born. I weighed 8 pounds and 9 ounces and was 21 inches long. Born in Akron General. A 22 year old White House intern Monica Lewinksy, what started off as a business relationship turned into a sexual relationship. Soon, three laters in 1998, Bill Clinton was impeached from being President and the Vice President stepped into office. Lewinksy Scandal Bill Clinton Monica Lewinsky This event in history didn't have a big impact onto me but it did show me that not everyone is perfect. Even the president can make mistakes, but you have to learn and take responsibility for your actions. The 1998 United States embassy bombings were a series of attacks that occurred on August 7, 1998, in which hundreds of people were killed in simultaneous truck bomb explosions at the United States embassies in the East African capitals of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. The date of the bombings marked the eighth anniversary of the arrival of American forces in Saudi Arabia.[1] The attacks were linked to local members of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, brought Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri to the attention of the American public for the first time, and resulted in the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation placing bin Laden on its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. The FBI also connected the attack to Azerbaijan as 60 calls via satellite phone were placed by Bin Laden to associates in Baku regarding the strike.[2] Fazul Abdullah Mohammed would be credited for being the mastermind behind the bombings. Deaths : 223 , Injured : more than 4,000. American History - 98' Terrorists bombing This event had no impact on me in my life. But it did show me that there are terrorists in this world and that they will attack. American History - 98' Jonesboro Massacre On a Tuesday day, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Two young boys Andrew Golden (11 years old) and Mitchell Johnson (13 years old), had a strange hobby. They both shared a passion for guns. And there was more: for months they had fantasised about proving to their friends that their trigger-fingers were where their mouths were. One day they would take their weapons to class at the Westside Middle School, in Jonesboro, and they would shoot some folks. If not for the fun of it, then to vent the anger that they both shared over romantic approaches that were not being reciprocated. On Tuesday morning, both boys feigned illness to get out of classes. After breakfast, Johnson left his house and went to his friend's home. Golden was waiting with the guns and the van. Then, with tragic success, they realised their fantasy. 4 students and 1 teacher were killed, and 10 were injured. Andrew Golden Mitchell Johnson This event in American history was
a indirect impact to my life. But it did show me
that even kids can be killers. Pop Culture - 98' In 1998, The New York Yankees won the World Series Championship against the San Diego Padres. The won 4-0. Pop Culture - 98' The Waterboy Directed by: Frank Coraci

bubbly, happy child :) The Mars Climate Orbiter (formerly the Mars Surveyor '98 Orbiter) was a 338 kilogram (750 lb) robotic space probe launched by NASA on December 11, 1998 to study the Martian climate, atmosphere, surface changes and to act as the communications relay in the Mars Surveyor '98 program, for Mars Polar Lander. However, on September 23, 1999, communication with the spacecraft was lost as the spacecraft went into orbital insertion, due to ground based computer software which produced output in Imperial units of pound-seconds (lbf×s) instead of the metric units of newton-seconds (N×s) specified in the contract between NASA and Lockheed. The spacecraft encountered Mars at an improperly low altitude, causing it to incorrectly enter the upper atmosphere and disintegrate American History - 99' Mars Climate Orbiter This event had an indirect impact onto my life. But it made space interesting and had me curious. American History - 99' Oklahoma Tornado Outbreak The 1999 Oklahoma tornado outbreak was a vigorous severe weather event that lasted from May 3 until May 6, 1999 and brought violent tornadic storms to Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, and Tennessee. The most significant tornado first touched down southwest of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and became an F5 before dissipating over Midwest City, Oklahoma. Forty-eight people perished during the outbreak. This tornadic event ranks in severity with the Palm Sunday tornado outbreak of 1965. With a total of between 66 and 74 tornadoes, it was the most prolific tornado outbreak in Oklahoma history, although not the deadliest. This event had an indirect impact on
my life. American History - 99' Torrijos-Carter Treaty The Torrijos–Carter Treaties (sometimes referred to in the singular as the Torrijos-Carter Treaty) are two treaties signed by the United States and Panama in Washington, D.C., on September 7, 1977, which abrogated the Hay-Bunau Varilla Treaty of 1903. The treaties guaranteed that Panama would gain control of the Panama Canal after 1999, ending the control of the canal that the U.S. had exercised since 1903. The treaties are named after the two signatories, U.S. President Jimmy Carter and the Commander of Panama's National Guard, General Omar Torrijos. Although Torrijos was not democratically elected as he had seized power in a coup in 1968, it is generally considered that he had widespread support in Panama to justify his signing of the treaties.
This first treaty is officially titled The Treaty Concerning the Permanent Neutrality and Operation of the Panama Canal and is commonly known as the Neutrality Treaty. Under this treaty, the U.S. retained the permanent right to defend the canal from any threat that might interfere with its continued neutral service to ships of all nations. The second treaty is titled The Panama Canal Treaty, and provided that as from 12:00 on December 31, 1999, Panama would assume full control of canal operations and become primarily responsible for its defense. President Jimmy Carter and General Omar Torrijos shaking hands after
the signing of the treaty. This event indirectly impacted my life. pop culture - 98' pop culture - 99' Music Of The Heart Director: Wes Craven

Writer: Pamela Gray Inspired by the true story of the Opus 118 Harlem School of Music and 'Small Wonders', a 1996 documentary about the school, the film opens with violinist Roberta having been deserted by her US Navy husband and feeling devastated, almost suicidal. Encouraged by her mother, she attempts to rebuild her life and a friend from student days recommends her to the head teacher of a school in the tough New York area of East Harlem. Despite a degree in music education, she has little experience in actual music teaching, but she's taken on as a substitute violin teacher. With a combination of toughness and determination, she inspires a group of kids, and their initially skeptical parents. The program slowly develops and attracts publicity.
Ten years later, the string program is still running successfully at three schools, but suddenly the school budget is cut and Roberta is out of a job. Determined to fight the cuts, she enlists the support of former pupils, parents and teachers and plans a grand fund-raising concert, 'Fiddlefest', to raise money so that the program can continue. But with a few weeks to go and all participants furiously rehearsing, they lose the venue. Fortunately, the husband of a publicist friend is a violinist in the Guarneri Quartet, and he enlists the support of other well-known musicians, including Isaac Stern and Itzhak Perlman. They arrange for the concert to be mounted at Carnegie Hall. pop culture - 99' Lance Armstrong The 1999 Tour de France was the 86th Tour de France, taking place from July 3 to July 25, 1999. Having been stripped of the win due to the use of banned substances, Lance Armstrong's 1999 win, his first of 7 consecutive wins and the most in Tour history. pop culture - 99' Austin Powers: The spy who shagged me Dr. Evil is back...and has invented a new time machine that allows him to go back to the 60's and steal Austin Powers's mojo, inadvertently leaving him "shagless".

It was held on Tuesday, November 7, 2000. The contest was between Republican candidate George W. Bush, the incumbent governor of Texas and son of former president George H. W. Bush, and Democratic candidate Al Gore, the incumbent Vice President.

The incumbent President, Bill Clinton, was vacating the position after serving the maximum two terms allowed by the Twenty-second Amendment. Bush narrowly won the election, with 271 electoral votes to Gore's 266 (with one elector abstaining in the official tally).

The election was noteworthy for a controversy over the awarding of Florida's 25 electoral votes, the subsequent recount process in that state, and the unusual event of the winning candidate having received fewer popular votes than the runner-up.[2] This marked only the fourth election in U.S. history in which the eventual winner failed to win a plurality of the popular vote (after the elections of 1824, 1876, and 1888). Later studies have reached conflicting opinions on who would have won the recount if it had been allowed to proceed. This did not have a big impact on me but my mother and I are on the Rpublican side. As to my brother and dad are on the Democratic side. But it makes me think to have an open mind and not be restricted to Republican side but I find myself sharing more republican views. american history - 00' Hilary Clinton Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, born October 26, 1947, s the 67th United States Secretary of State, serving in the administration of President Barack Obama. She was a United States Senator for New York from 2001 to 2009. As the wife of the 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton, she was the First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001. In the 2008 election, Clinton was a leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination.
A native of Illinois, Hillary Rodham first attracted national attention in 1969 for her remarks as the first student commencement speaker at Wellesley College. She embarked on a career in law after receiving her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1973. Following a stint as a Congressional legal counsel, she moved to Arkansas in 1974 and married Bill Clinton in 1975. Rodham co-founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families in 1977 and became the first female chair of the Legal Services Corporation in 1978. Named the first female partner at Rose Law Firm in 1979, she was twice listed as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in America. As First Lady of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and 1983 to 1992 with husband Bill as governor, she successfully led a task force to reform Arkansas's education system. During that time, she was a member of the board of directors of Wal-Mart Stores and several other corporations. I feel Hilary Clinton is a great person. She is very well spoken. And i feel she always knows what is going on and what she is speaking about. Direct impact. American History - 00' USA doesn't participate June 1, 2000 - For the first time since 1851, the United States of America does not participate in a major World's Fair, the Hannover 2000 World Expo, despite a record number, 187, of international participants. President Bill Clinton had withdrawn U.S. participation late in 1999 after agreement to participate in 1997. Congressional apathy toward participation in world events continues a decline in U.S. involvement after the fall of the Soviet Union and victory in the Cold War. A consequence of this policy has led to a rise, among some experts, of anti-American sentiment, and a decline of U.S. influence in diplomatic affairs. January 19, 2010 - Scott Brown, a Republican reformer from Massachusetts, stuns the nation with an upset win for the special election Senate seat. He is the first Republican elected to the Senate from the state since 1972 and only Republican member of the Massachusetts Democratic congressional delegation. His election puts a halt to the 60 seat Demoractic super majority in the Senate and will prevent President Obama and the Democratic leadership from pushing legislation in future votes past a Republican filibuster. I feel this is good that republicans are getting elected to senate from state. We need more republicans. american history - 10' March 25, 2010 - The U.S. House of Representatives finalizes the Health Care legislation approved by the Senate, extending health benefits and insurance to most Americans. The legislation, passed on a partisan basis by the Democratic Majority, has caused a significant rift within the public, who disapproves of the bill, and is expected to test the Democratic Party's hold on both houses of Congress during the mid-term elections in November. Finalizing Health Care I feel this is good, to extend healthcare. I am republican but i think healthcare is good and this was a good idea. american hisotry - 10' November 2, 2010 - With an impetus from the Tea Party movement to restore fiscal sanity to Congress and various state houses, Republican candidates win the majority of elections, taking control of the U.S. House of Representatives with a net gain of 63 seats, reducing the majority of Democrats in the Senate, and taking over many governorships and other legislative bodies. This tide was the biggest turnaround in Congressional seats since 1948, and many attribute the election to disfavor of Obama administration spending practices, including the Health Care legislation passed in March. Tea Party I think there is no problem with republicans having the majority of the seats in the House of Reps. I feel it shouldn't be that big of a deal. pop culture - 10' Taio Cruz pop culture - 10' The Karate Kid pop culture - 10' Evan Lysacek wins gold medal at the Vancouver winter olympics 2010 in the mens single. about me - 11' I placed 5th place in the Mid America Region at the Oireachtas. April 30, 2011 - Osama Bin Laden, mastermind of the 9/11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and other locations and leader of the terrorist group, Al-Queda, is killed after ten years of pursuit by United States and coalition forces during a raid by U.S. Navy Seals on his hideout location in Pakistan. I feel they both should be killed for what they have caused and done. I feel this has directly influenced me because it shows there point of view and how cruel they are and how they want to hurt us. american history - 11' Final shuttle Lands
