ADELE
Adele was born in North London, England, on May 5, 1988, eventually attending the performing arts BRIT School. Her first two albums, 19 and 21, earned her a level of commercial success unsurpassed among her peers, with the artist selling millions of albums worldwide and winning multiple Grammys.
I have many reasons why I choose Adele as my song of choice. One of the main reasons is because, Adele is my idol and I absolutely love her work and her vocal chords! Whenever I hear any of her songs I get a feeling that no other artist has ever given me. She's a very talented young women and I hope one day I get to meet her in person! She does a lot of soul genre music, with lyrics describing heartbreak and relationship
I chose "When we were young," from her new album 25 that was released on November 20, 2015. I chose this song because I think it really represents her and her whole new album.
Rhythm is the element of "TIME" in music. When you tap your foot to the music, you
are "keeping the beat" or following the structural rhythmic pulse of the music. I hear the rhythm in a Largo (slow) tempo. Having 40-65 beats per minute and then Accelerando (gradually speeding up).
In this song one of the elements I hear is rhythm
Rhythm
Dynamics
Texture
Adele has a Polyphony texture that means different voices or instruments playing different parts of the song at different pitches and rhythms. Which is found towards the middle of the song, when the background singers join.
Polyphonic texture
The dynamics used in this song is the mezzo-forte using Crescendo and Diminuendo to get gradually louder and quieter.
It starts off as mezzo-forte and as the chores comes up it goes to crescendo and then diminuendo back to mezzo-forte.
Everybody loves the things you do
From the way you talk
To the way you move...
Everybody here is watching you
'Cause you feel like home
You're like a dream come true

But if by chance you're here alone
Can I have a moment?
Before I go?
'Cause I've been by myself all night long
Hoping you're someone I used to know

You look like a movie
You sound like a song
My God
This reminds me, Of when we were young

Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song

I was so scared to face my fears
Cause nobody told me that you'd be here
And I swore you moved overseas
That's what you said, when you left me

You still look like a movie
You still sound like a song
My God, this reminds me
Of when we were young

Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song

When we were young...
(When we were young)
When we were young...
(When we were young)

It's hard to win me back
Everything just takes me back
To when you were there
To when you were there
And a part of me keeps holding on
Just in case it hasn't gone
I guess I still care
Do you still care?

It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
My God, this reminds me
Of when we were young

When we were young...
(When we were young)
When we were young...
(When we were young)

Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
I'm so mad I'm getting old
It makes me reckless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
When we were young
